About :: History
VIC Network, a “digital-age” technology networking and events management company, has emerged to recreate the style, energy and sense of community that surfaced during the late 1990s technology boom, and to grow these capabilities and relationships to help connect and empower the stakeholders and participants in the next wave of digital technology innovation. The network is beginning with its core historic community in Southern and Northern California, and growing gradually to other digital media hubs throughout the country (Seattle, San Diego, Austin, Boston, Chicago, New York) and, as we continue to grow, eventually the world (London, Cannes, Shanghai, Bangalore).
Led by Brad Nye, who created the original Venice Interactive Community in 1995, VIC Network will look to recreate both the electric atmosphere that prevailed among many of its events during the technology boom years, as well as be at the forefront to introducing its members to new technologies and high-growth companies as the next wave moves into high gear.
Helping organize the new VIC Network are three veterans of the first Internet wave: Tony Winders, former president of iAgency, now Director of Marketing for ValueClick Media; Michael Terpin, CEO of Terpin Communications Group and founder of digital press release distributor Internet Wire (now Market Wire); and Joey Tamer, President, S.O.S, Inc., a widely-acclaimed strategic consultant to technology and media CEOs, U.S. and worldwide.
This is truly a community effort, designed to show the broader society that the passion, intelligence and commitment from the early days of the Internet has not been snuffed out by the temporary downturn. The revitalized tech economy has come on strong in 2004-2005 and it is now a great time to build something new, to make a social and spiritual home for the individuals who make up this vibrant community.
