Digital Cinema: The Changing Landscape of Entertainment Content Preparation, Distribution and Exhibition
Digital cinema stands to dramatically alter the landscape of entertainment content preparation, distribution, and exhibition:
- The public is demanding a variety of digital entertainment, and the industry is responding.
- Entertainment has become digitized, portable, and easier to experience.
- Digital technologies have revolutionized the ways in which businesses must identify, develop, and deliver entertainment content to consumers.
- Digital entertainment has become the expected form by today's savvy consumers.
Still, the vast majority of theatrical motion pictures today are shot and distributed on celluloid film, just as they were nearly 100 years ago, and digital cinema has yet to reach critical mass, or its full potential.
- What is digital cinema, and what technological, operational, and financial benefits does it offer?
- What are the major issues delaying the deployment of digital cinema systems? What is the industry doing to move forward?
- What changes can we expect in entertainment content preparation, distribution, and exhibition?
- What challenges confront major film studios, regional and national exhibition chains, equipment manufacturers, and service providers?
